Your response to our urgent order has completely blown away the people for whom I ordered the goods. Panic was the name of the game. The delivery date and time was for Friday (today) at 6 in the evening. Imagine the surprise when the goods rocked up yesterday (8 May) before lunchtime. Does the data file have to be in the same location as the server software, or can it be on a mapped drive?

No, it doesn't need to be in the same location as the server software. The administrator can "force" the server software to find the data file on any mapped drive.
