Freezerworks Unlimited, used with the FUL SOAP Server module, has passed the National Cancer Institute's caBIG® Bronze review and is now licensed as a caBIG® Bronze level compatible product. Currently, Bronze is the only certification available for software developed outside of the caBIG® program. caBIG® stands for Cancer Biomedical informatics Grid® For more information, see the Bronze Compatibility Certification page at the caBIG® website. The following is a summary of the specifications (caBIG®) requires for Bronze certification, each followed by an explanation (DWD) of how FUL with SOAP Server meets them. 1. Programming and Messaging Interfaces caBIG® - Programmatic access to data from an external resource is possible. DWD - The standard of programmatic access is met through our SOAP interface. Dataworks supplied NCICB with appropriate documentation, listing all API's with input and output specifications. 2. Vocabularies/Terminologies and Ontologies caBIG® - Use of publicly accessible controlled vocabularies as well as local terminologies. - Terminologies must include definitions of terms that meet caBIG VCDE workspace guidelines. DWD - Freezerworks Unlimited can be configured to utilize any controlled biomedical terminology the user selects. 3. Data Elements caBIG® - Data element descriptions are maintained with sufficient definitional depth to enable a subject matter expert to unambiguously interpret the contents of the resource without contacting the original investigator. - Data elements are built using controlled terminology. - Metadata is stored and publicized in an electronic format that is separate from the resource that is being described. DWD - The SOAP interface provides a series of WSDL's. These WSDLs are fully described in the SOAP documentation, including all input and output fields with definitions. Dynamic data elements have metadata support within Freezerworks Unlimited and a separate web service for retrieving such metadata. 4. Information Models caBIG® - Diagrammatic representation of the information model is available in electronic format. DWD - Given that the functional API for caBIG certification is the SOAP interface, the appropriate information model is the WSDL files that describe the web services.
